Syber Symon |  Book DJ

Syber Symon is one of the most versatile djs on the London party scene. With a great ear for music, Syber has a flair for knowing exactly which tunes and beats work together, be it at a club or in a bar. Syber’s sets incorporate a staggering array of music, built up through years of djing at London underground parties, global gigs and, of course, his passion for great music.

Be it a funky techno set or a distinctive mix of electro, Syber’s ability to read a crowd is second to none. This talent, combined with his in-depth knowledge of electronic beats, makes for some of the sexiest, most exciting DJ sets you’re likely to hear. A firm favourite at warehouse parties on the London techno party scene.

Syber also hosts his own night Futureshock in the heart of London’s trendy Shoreditch where crowds of eager clubbers queue around the block to hear him play. So how did it all start? Sy’s music roots and his taste for performing can be traced back to his teens where he played bass in a band called Earthbabies. Yet, while the band enjoyed early success, the call of dance music proved too strong for the young Sy. By the 90s he’d become smitten by the early rave scene and UK festivals. Before long, he turned his talents to dJing and never looked back.

Armed with his trusty record bag, Sy travelled to Europe in the mid 90s and began DJing at Europe’s festivals and teknivals playing on sound sytems like Immersion. He was an immediate hit with revellers who couldn’t get enough of his downright funky style. On returning to England later that year he quickly established himself as one of the rising stars of the London party scene playing alongside the likes of Chris Liberator and DJ Ant at legendary warehouse parties like Camden Parkway cinema, Quazar and clubs like Underground Frequencies with the Headroom DJs and Glenn Wilson.

A variety of gigs around the country followed: At Glastonbury, Sy, or Sly as he’s known to his friends, rocked the party for 4 consecutive years as well as performing at festivals like Frome, the mighty Megadog Solipse. It was at this time, the late 90s, that Sly started working in central London record shop Trackheads (formerly Dragon Discs). Now fully immersed in the dance scene, he collaborated in the studio with D.A.V.E. the Drummer, Guy “Geezer” McAffer and DJ Ant, releasing tracks on Hydraulix, RAW, Infected, Nukleuz compilations.

Gigs Down Under After making a strong impression on the London and UK scene, Sy felt the need to stretch his DJ wings. In March 2003, Cyber took Australia by storm headlining at gigs like the Factory and Virus and hosting his own weekly radio show in Melbourne. UK Gigs On returning to London in 2004, Sy kept up the pressure hosting his own night, Futureshock, in London’s ever so trendy Shoreditch. The night’s killer mix of electro sleaze, warped house punked out beats and three deck experimentation has been a resounding success. Moving up a gear, Futureshock now hosts the electro room at the eminent Chemical Warfare London club nights with guests like Billy Nasty. Futureshock incorporates the live dance music into the fabric of the night eg with acts like Death by Disco, a band who mix electronic music with elements live punk and vocals. When not ripping it up on the dancefloor, Sy works for respected record distributors Intergroove and gets access to all the latest cutting edge tunes, ensuring that he keeps on top of his game and ahead of the pack.
