Beamish

After making a racket for 15 years in punk and grunge bands in the north west of England, Beamish swapped his bass guitar for bass bins when he played his first DJ gig at a squatted pub in Islington in the summer of 91. During the next 2 years he juggled his time between working for legendary rave pioneers “Raindance” and underground squat party crew, “Shrape”, birthplace of trance’s top double act; Beamish and Oberon.

In the following years, Beamish guested regularly at seminal techno clubs, Knowledge and Universe’s Final Frontier at Club UK.
In the autumn of 95, he played for the first time at Escape from Samsara at The Fridge, Brixton, and was offered a residency, which lasted for 7 years and only ended when the night finished. He also played regularly for Return to the Source, was resident at RTTS’s Catch 23, still plays regularly for Pendragon, Skankadelic (Banbury), and Cohesion, (Club 414, Brixton).

He promoted Pulse, throbbing techno trance, for 6 years, Destination Venus for 3 years, launched MESH records, organised the Release 30th birthday bash at Brixton Academy, and toured extensively through Japan, Argentina, Australia and Croatia, as well as practically every country in the EEC.

In October 1999, Beamish was invited to play in the back room of “the Black Boy” pub in north London, by a group of European trance addicts, eager to start their own party, little did anybody know that this was to be the birthplace of the now massive Antiworld, a party that has grown and grown to become London’s (if not the UK’s) largest trance party, Beamish was delighted to be offered a residency with the UK’s premier promoters, and is looking forward immensely to returning to The Fridge in 2003.
